Mayor Cluck Resigns

In the Council Meeting held on Monday, April 15, 2024, John Cluck officially resigned as Mayor of the City of Wathena. Cluck recently moved his residency outside of the city limits, therefore making him ineligible to remain in his elected capacity as mayor. The Governing Body and City employees want to recognize all of his accomplishments while in office. They also would like to thank him, and say how much they appreciate his efforts to support, protect, promote and improve the city on behalf of it's employees and citizens.
John Hontz, as Council President, has moved into the position of Mayor, and was sworn into office on Friday, April 19, 2024.
